QUICK LINKS

El Paso Stars Volleyball Club hosts a variety of Open Gyms throughout the year for all ages and skill levels.

Open Gyms

Provide an opportunity for players interested in EP Star Volleyball Club to learn more about the program while getting to know the coaching staff. The sessions are supervised by club coaches who organize games for the players in a fast paced, non-instructional environment. This allows EP Stars coaches to evaluate player skills who are interested in trying out for club in the future.

2019 Open Gyms

All sessions will take place at Stars Haven Gym:

FREE - ALL MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2019

Wednesday's    6:00pm - 8:00pm

Thursday's        6:00pm - 8:00pm

EP STARS

VOLLEYBALL CLUB

El Paso Stars Volleyball Club was established in El Paso, Texas in 2008 by Coach Joseph Dawson. After many years coaching around town, he decided it was time to bring a new, fresh approach to club volleyball. We offer a competitive standard, paired with high-level coaching that can help grow and shape each athlete’s game.

We are dedicated to high level competition & training. A priority at El Paso Stars is to provide quality coaching to all of our teams. We are dedicated to providing our coaches with training, tools, and support to ensure each team's success.

Club volleyball is an avenue for players, age 10 (and even younger) to 18 to receive advanced training and competition on local, regional and national stages.

Team Practices

Club teams practice two or three times a week at the Stars Haven indoor volleyball facility. Practice days and times depend on team placed. Practice schedules will be announced once teams are formed.

Tournament Play

Tournaments are where the hard practice pays off and many favorable memories are made. Understand that practice and training is where you receive the most instruction and experience. Tournament play is only a supplement to participating in Club. Club tournaments are usually far more competitive and more physically demanding than league or high school matches.

EXPOSURE TO COLLEGE RECRUITERS:

College coaches regularly attend specific tournaments, since they have the opportunity to watch a number of players in one location. For that reason, the majority of colleges now recruit directly from club programs.

Club Fees

Local Teams       - $1,500

Regionl Teams   - $2,300

National Teams  - $2,850

Fees are subject to change to reflect any practices and/or tournaments added or removed.

EP Stars Volleyball Club team fees include tournament fees, gym fees, coaching fees, equipment, uniforms, and administrative fees. Fees also depend on the team and number of tournaments the team attends. Price does not include USAV registration fee, travel, food or hotel costs if needed.

Team budgets will be posted at a later date.

Teams are not budgeted for attending Nationals. Should a team earn a bid for USAV Nationals or attend AAU Nationals, an additional fee will apply to cover the additional expenses and travel costs

FOUR SIGNS OF AN IDEAL SPORTS PARENT

Being a successful athlete requires hard work, diligence, and patience. Being successful as the parent of an athlete also requires diligence, discipline, and patience — and can often times feel more difficult than being the actual athlete him or herself.

Here are four signs of an ideal sports parent:

#1 – Cheer, Support, Repeat . . . Cheer for everybody on the team, not just your child. Attend as many games as possible. Be supportive, but let your daughter find her own solutions. Feel not the need to come to her rescue at every challenge or crisis.

#2 – Model Appropriate Behavior . . . With apologies to the old saying, children do as you do, not as you say. When a parent projects poise, control, and confidence, the young athlete is likely to do the same. When a parent chooses not to dwell on a tough loss, the young athlete will be enormously appreciative.

#3 – Communicate Correctly with the Coach . . . Know what is or is not suitable to discuss with the coach. Asking advice on how to help your child improve is 100% appropriate to discuss with a coach. Your child’s behavior, her strengths, and her role are also perfectly acceptable. Playing time in and of itself, team strategy, and other players on the team are off-limit topics, however.

#4 – Listen and Encourage . . . Be a good listener and a great encourager. When your child is ready to talk about a game or has a question about the sport, be all ears and listen. Be positive, be supportive, be helpful, but also encourage the athlete to speak up for herself. The child needs to learn to find answers (aka self-sufficiency).

Parents, you will have an extraordinary impact on your child. Positivity begets positive results. Stay positive!

EP Stars offers two options to help parents offset club fee costs

Option One:

We offer ad space in the form of a banner at our Stars Haven Facility to anyone looking to promote their business.

Players and parents can go out and sell banners and receive 50% of the sale.

Banner prices vary depending on size.

Option Two:

Players can ref our youth league Friday games and receive $10 dlls credit toward their club dues per game reffed.

Credit can only be used towards club dues.

Join In 3 Steps

1. Attend Tryouts or Evaluations

All interested players must attend a tryout to be eligible to play with El Paso Stars Volleyball Club.  Teams are chosen each year based on performance during these tryouts.  New and Returning players will have the same opportunity to make a team.

El Paso Stars Volleyball Club will make team selections based on an evaluation which is conducted in a professional manner and based on the consensus of qualified coaches.

Traditionally there are 10 roster spots available per team.  Circumstances may warrant any individual team to have as many as 12 players or as few as 9 players.

Tryout Dates will be posted soon.

Please submit email to be notified of upcoming Club tryouts or email us to setup an evaluation.

2. Setup Club Payment Plan

Once your daughter has been invited to join a club team the initial payment will be due Nov. 1st.

The rest of the club dues will be set up into a monthly payment plan based on the team budget.

3. Bring In All Required Paperwork

You will be handed a registration packet that will need to be filled out and completed  for the 2019-2020 El Paso Stars Volleyball Club prior to the 1st day of practice.

If you have any questions about El Paso Stars Volleyball Progam,

please contact Stars Club Director Joe Dawson: joedawson@elpasostars.org
